INTEGERS

Today's topic is integers. The vocabulary is integer and opposite. An integer is all the positive and negative whole counting numbers. An opposite is the opposite of a number on the other side of the number line.  Opposite numbers always when added togerther equal zero.  For example -7 + 7 = 0.

Before you can do integers you need to know these rules...

                        If you add two negatives you get a bigger negative like this -9+(-6)=-15

If you add a negative and a pssitive keep the sign of the bigger number and think like your on a # line                                                                      like this -9+6=-3

                          

                        If your doing subtraction you always do plus the opposite. Remember that subtraction does not exist any                                more. Here is an example.

                                                                                      9-(-5)=

                                                                                      9+5=14

                            Just make subtraction addition and change the second number to its opposite. For division and multiplication if both the signs are the same it's a positive number .If they are different it is a negative number. After that it is just regular multiplication/division
